The association has nine professional committees of polyamide, polycarbonate, thermoplastic polyester, polyformaldehyde, ABS, specialty engineering plastics, resin modification and alloy, processing application, and engineering plastics additives. Each professional committee unfolds its activities independently. The member meeting is held every four years. The association journal is the Engineering Plastics Application.

The association and the K&K magazine, GKV held the China Plastics Forum in 1998. In May 2000, at the invitation of the Japan Engineering Plastics Technical Committee, the China Engineering Plastics Industry Association delegation headed by Yang Weicai, director of the Association Management Office of the State Administration of Petroleum and Chemical Industry and chairman of the association council, attended the First Sino-Japan Engineering Plastics Technical Exchange Meeting, signed a friendly cooperation agreement, and discussed intent on cooperation in developing the engineering plastics industry in China.

Since the founding, the association has been engaging in strengthening internal coordination and foreign exchange and established contact with several foreign plastic cement associations.

Domestically, the association has established coordination relation with relevant industrial associations for coordination and common development in future activities. As the domestic market has been developing rapidly over recent years, the association has organized engineering plastics market application surveys nationwide, assisted domestic and overseas manufacturers and raw material suppliers in holding market symposia, product promotion meetings and technical exchange meetings, introducing many overseas new technologies, new processes, new products and new equipment into the domestic market to promote the accelerated development of the Chinese engineering plastics industry and integrate with the international practices.

On December 1-4, 1999, the association hosted the First China International Exhibition on Engineering Plastics at the Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center in Shanghai reaped success. One hundred and six enterprises including world-renowned manufacturers from 13 countries and regions and many domestic famous engineering plastics and equipment manufacturers attended the exhibition. The exhibition had an area of 6,500 square meters. Over 13,000 professionals visited the exhibition, and more than 2,000 visitors attended seminars and academic exchange activities during the exhibition. Trade activities were very active, and volume traded hit RMB23.7m.

On Nov.29th - Dec.2nd, 2007, the 5^nd China International Exhibition on Engineering Plastics will be held at the SNIEC.

The association will actively implement the Party and government’s laws and policies, strengthen horizontal contacts, organize exchanges meetings of domestic and overseas techno-economic and market information and product demonstrations; expand international exchanges and increase exchanges and cooperation between domestic and overseas colleagues; solicit business and introduce investment, bridge gaps for domestic and overseas demanders and suppliers, seek partners so as promote technological progress and improve management skills and corporate profits.
